KAMPAR: UTAR Perak campus Wushu club has just organized a wonderful Sanda Invitation Championship on 03 July 2016. The Sanda Invitation Championship was held at UTAR Perak campus block C, there are over 60 participants who have joined this championship.


Sanda is also known as Martial Art, a combat sport which follows the rules and regulations set by International Wushu Federation.


Participants come from several states to grab this rare opportunity to share and exchange Sanda skills that they have learned.

Mr. Lee How Chinh, Assistant Head Judge of Sanda Invitation Championship gave a speech on behalf of Mr. Adrin Yeap Wai Kuan, UTAR Wushu Club in-charge officer. Due to some reasons, Mr. Adrin is not able to attend the opening ceremony, hence, Mr. Lee deliver Mr. Adrin in alternative way.


According to Mr. Adrin, "this championship is a place not only for sports encounter.”


“But also to serve as a platform for Sanda athletes to share their skills and to promote friendly relationship among all Sanda athletes. Together, we will bring this sports to a higher level.”

He also highlighted, “Sports is beautiful, the most important roles in it are played by people. I wish you all the best; fight every match as if it the last match and remember, a true fighter and champion is someone who gets up even when he can’t.”


Chua Ling Wen, 19, UTAR Perak student, who is chairperson of the championship.

Chua Ling Wen, who is the chairperson of this championship, stated that the purpose of this championship is to let Sanda athletes gain more competition experiences, to serve as a platform for Sanda athletes to share and exchange their skills as well as to enhance the relationship among all the Sanda athletes from different associations.

“We also hope that we can organize this kind of event at least twice a year in order to promote and increase the awareness of Sanda to the public.” said Chua.
