Kampar: In conjunction with the Counselling and Wellness Week 2016, an exhibition themed “Fear? Light in the Darkness” were held in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. The five-day event started from 11th July to 15th July. It also comprised of exhibition, fun booth and talks.

According to the Chairperson of CWW2016, Chuah Chong Shen, the main purpose of this event is to give awareness and counselling to the students about fear that surrounds them.
Life is unpredictable. We are the one who carve our own route. Of course fear is there, waiting for you. But that does not mean you can’t beat it. Sometimes, choices that we made might not lead us to the place we wanted, but at least we won’t feel regret.
“Fear is within us, there are a lot of fear that we faced, whether consciously or unconsciously. We fear for relationship, we afraid of failure, we dread for the unknown, and we even fright for freedom. No matter what kind of choices you are making or actions you are taking, fear will be there.”
“This exhibition is a perfect chance for students to break free, discover and grasp the real meaning of fear”, Chuah added.
In this exhibition, there are a total of six different sections: Freedom, Relationship, Stigma, Unknown, Death, and Failure. Each section represents one type of fear and a mascot. With different sections, students can revel in their tour to the world of fear and further understand it.

Each section were explained thoroughly by respective members. This is to ensure each and every visitors will gain as much understanding as possible and to help in conquering their inner fear.

Chuah also stated that this year CWW is quite successful. “We are able to attract many of the students with events such as the Gan Jiang Han’s talk, and booths”.
According to Ho Sheau Huey, one of the advisor of CWW from DSA, in order to make this event a success, they faced a lot of obstacles. For instance, conflict of opinion between the members, shorting of material and so on.
“Actually, some of the materials is not enough. But the students bring out their creativity, working together, and this certainly helped solve the problem at hand.”
“As their advisor, I am proud of them”, she added.
The information in each of the section is very detailed and thorough.

Six types of Fear:
1. Fear of Freedom – being restricted, imprisoned and trapped. The Five freedom by Virginia Satir: To see and Hear; to say; to feel; to ask; to take risks.
2. Fear of Relationship – Fear will surface in our relationship. We developed strategies to control our fear by squashing it or avoiding it
3. Fear of Stigma – labeled or labeler? Stigma and discrimination hurts people in ways that are impossible measure.
4. Fear of Unknown – We are all afraid of the unknown to some degree or another. It is a natural human’s instinct.
5. Fear of Death – What will you do for your love one if his/her life is going to end?
6. Fear of Failure – Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.
