The Mystery Revealed Health Exhibition 2016

KAMPAR: UTAR Biological Science Society (BSS) had just organized a Health Exhibition titled “The Mystery Revealed”. This event were held at multipurpose hall for four consecutive days which is from Monday to Thursday at 10am to 4pm.

Biological Science Society is a course based society that made up from biomedical science, biotechnology, biochemistry, and microbiology. Yet, this event consists of different courses committees, mostly are members of Biological Science Society and some are from Faculty of Business and Finance.
BSS chairperson Wendy Lau Lee Teng said, “The main objective of this event is creating health awareness among UTAR students”
“To understand the truth of some facts. For example, when you have nose bleeding, the head should not tilt backwards but forward to let the blood flow”.

In this exhibition, there are five different booth which gives different purposes and knowledge. These five booths are Information Booth, Video Booth, Experiment Booths, Photo Booth and Mini Game Booth.

In Information Booth, there are 20 Information boards were pasted with information related to disease commonly found in students such as Binge Disease , Anorexia, Bulimia and some interesting disease such as vampire disease. Patients with vampire disease normally look like vampire because they are sensitive to light which able to damage the skin of patients. This disease is known as Porphyria.

As for Video Booth, two videos credited to the committee members will be played. “The 2 videos are anorexia and bad living habit. These video are displayed to create awareness among UTAR students towards health mindset and health lifestyle”, added Wendy
Experiment Booth consists of bacteria culture, microscopic viewing, reversing liquid, DNA extraction and mystery water.
“These experiments are very interesting and it will also allow non-science students to have exposure to experiments carry out by science students.”

Photo booth is for participants to take photos, mingling around and have fun with their friends. It is also to keep visitors engaged and entertained.
As for the last booth, mini games were prepared to allow participants to play and rest while getting information. Interactive mini games such as confession board to voice out thoughts, brain storming quiz competition, darts, twister and so on.

Wendy also stated that, “Stress is one of the causes for many health problems. So, in order for students to have great time and release their stress, we prepared these game. Get into the game to relief stress, learn and win amazing prizes!”
When she was asked about the success rate of this event, she claimed that how good an event depend on the number of participants that attended. “Our event's proposal only target for 500 participants, I think this event is successful for us because we almost reach the target on the second day.”
“Success depends on whether our committees, helpers and participants learnt something. Not only information but also in developing the personality. We had prepared for this event throughout the year, I believe that our committees, helpers and participants will learn something from this event.”
